TECHNICAL SALES PERSON
 

This job role is a split between field and office based. Approx 65% - 35% split in favour of being out on the road. Approx 80/20 split between the development of new business and nurturing of existing accounts. Strong sales background is required and technical sales knowledge within the Lighting Industry and in particular LEDs would be an advantage. Strong account management skills required. Must be very customer focused and have the ability to think outside the box and work on own initiative. The successful candidate will be an excellent closer of deals and have the ability to nurture these accounts. The role comprises mainly of UK travel with occasional European travel (therefore knowledge of other languages would be an advantage but not essential). A professional and smart appearance is a necessity at all times as the majority of the clients will be Directors and other decision makers.


Key aspects of job:
  • Maximise company sales and profits
  • Account management for Lighting and some aligned industries
  • Planning and review of sales activities
  • Maintenance of systems and records in accordance with ISO9002
  • To look after and maintain existing accounts
  • To move company strategically into growth areas associated with Lighting

Main duties:

  • To help maximise sales and profits of the company as a whole with specific responsibility for allocated targets
  • Conducting presentations to clients and prospective clients
  • To achieve/exceed industry targets for allocated industries
  • To see projects through from initial contact through to closure of deal
  • To offer best pricing to customers while maintaining company profitability and negotiate with suppliers where necessary, with the support of material control
  • To process sales orders and perform full contract review before accepting
  • To liaise with Material Control to ensure smooth contract completion
  • To keep in regular contact with customers in allocated industries, to establish confidence, build relationships, understand new developments and offer latest technology
  • To help produce forecasts, maintain project forms, etc to create a workable forward business plan
  • To keep in touch with alterations and developments in the product ranges within the company, the industry sectors and the market place
